Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told reporters that the opposition was "frustrated and directionless". The opposition has no vision. Commenting on the behaviour of the opposition, he said, the conduct of the opposition shows that it has decided to remain in the opposition permanently for a long time.
Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge said that many members of the opposition wanted a discussion under Rule 267. The Prime Minister should come into the discussion here and keep his point in the House. Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 12 o'clock and then till 2 o'clock due to the opposition's ruckus on the issue of Manipur in the morning.
The Congress-led Organisation of Opposition Parties (India) has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi come to Parliament and give a detailed briefing on the Manipur issue. Congress says there is a joint demand of the Organisation of Opposition Parties (India) that Prime Minister Modi address the Parliament on this subject and inform the country about the situation in Manipur.
The Congress said that a meeting was held in the Parliament House complex on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on this subject, where this decision was taken.
Earlier, after the meeting, Kharge tweeted that violence has been going on continuously for 83 days in Manipur. From there, heart-wrenching stories are coming to the fore. The Prime Minister should answer the House on such an issue. Kharge said that the Organisation of Opposition Parties (India) has sought an answer from Prime Minister Modi on the issue. Prime Minister Modi should tell us what his government is doing to improve the situation and when the situation will be normal in Manipur. Kharge said he gave notice under Rule 267 for discussion on the Manipur issue in the Rajya Sabha.
In response to opposition's tirade against the government, PM Modi on Tuesday termed 'India', the alliance of opposition parties, as the country's most directionless and desperate alliance ever. Comparing the India Alliance with organisations like the East India Company and the Indian Mujahideen, he said people cannot be misled simply by using the country's name.
PM Modi lashed out at the opposition and said that our government is developing the country. The government is ready to discuss the Manipur issue, but the opposition is still not allowing the Houses of Parliament to function. He said that India has to be a developed nation by 2047.
On the opposition Party India's (Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance) plan to bring a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, Joshi said that the last time the opposition brought a no-confidence motion in 2018-19, the BJP's seats increased from 282 to over 300 in the 2019 elections. Joshi said that this time the BJP will get more than 350 seats after the motion of no confidence in the House.
