Katrina announced the same on her official Instagram account by sharing a text graphic which had PM-CARES Fund and CM's Relief Fund's logos.
Alia Bhatt also pledged her support for the cause. She wrote on her Instagram account, “At a time of great difficulty, while the nation is in lockdown, the central and state governments are working tirelessly to combat covid-19. I salute the efforts of all those on the frontlines who are putting themselves at risk so the rest of us stay safe. I also pledge contributions to the PM-Cares fund and the chief minister’s relief fund (Maharashtra) as a gesture of my support.”
Actor Sara Ali Khan has also come forward to donate for the cause. She donated for the PM-Cares fund as well as Maharashtra chief minister’s relief fund. Among the many celebrities who have recently pledged to donate to various relief funds aimed at combating the coronavirus pandemic are Priyanka Chopra and husband Nick Jonas. Priyanka and Nick donated an undisclosed amount to 10 charities including Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES), UNICEF, Goonj, Doctors Without Borders, No Kid Hungry, and SAG-AFTRA. ndian cricket star Rohit Sharma donates Rs 80 lakh for coronavirus fight. Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Infosys, on Monday committed Rs 100 crore to support efforts towards fighting COVID-19 in India. The Foundation has contributed half of this commitment (Rs 50 crore) to the PM CARES Fund, a statement said.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan has pledged to donate for 25,000 daily wage artistes of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), whose livelihood has been severely affected owing to the lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak, according to its president, BN Tiwari. Earlier, Akshay Kumar had announced a donation of Rs 25 crore, the highest by any Bollywood actor so far. Several A-listers from the south, including Rajinikanth, Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas, Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan have also donated money.
