The call of the mountains: a catalyst for glory
It is rightly said that Nature is the mother of all creation and fuel for all creativity.
Virat was inspired to undertake mountaineering, when he interacted with his cousins over a video call, during their trek to the Rudugair mountains in Uttarakhand. He was fascinated by the beauty of the picturesque mountains; was intrigued by his cousin’s passion and bubbling with the zeal to try something new, that’s when he decided that he wanted to give mountaineering a try.
He valued his calling and shared his interest with his parents, who encouraged him to undertake training under a professional coach.
Tracing the young achiever’s journey:
Virat Chandra, a Seven-year-old boy from Hyderabad gave wings to his dreams and brew glory by becoming one of the youngest to have scaled Africa’s highest mountain ‘Kilimanjaro’.
He trained rigorously for a period of 1 month with his coach Bharath to train himself for the day that was 6th March 2021. As per his coach, he was very passionate about mountain climbing and unlike others, he did not leave the training midway. He completed all the tasks that were assigned to him with utmost dedication.
The journey towards becoming the youngest to scale the highest African mountain began on 5th March 2021 for Virat.
All the necessary precautions were taken care of by Virat’s coach to ensure the safety of the 7-year old. Plans to forego the journey were also in the ambit, if anything went wrong or if Virat would have felt uncomfortable.
However, Virat scripted History and made not just his family but the whole country proud with his exemplary feet at such a tender age. Virat was scared but determined to reach the goal.
