देवरिया का ऐसा मंदिर जिसे श्रद्धालु बताते हैं 'अश्वत्थामा' की तपोभूमि
Read MoreRecognizing the dedication and sacrifice of millions of health and care workers at the forefront of the Covid-19 pandemic, World Health Organisation (WHO) has designated 2021 as the year of the Health and Care Workers (HCW). The indispensable role of health and care workers in accelerating positive health outcomes has emphasized the need to contemplate their endeavours and challenges. Given their hardships, the need of the hour is to prioritize the occupational health of health workers and ensure that the workforce is adequately trained and healthy.
Healthcare workers not only deliver care and services to the sick and ailing but are also the most vulnerable medical professionals inflicted with hazardous diseases. In a report published by the WHO, the disease burden caused by percutaneous sharps injuries among healthcare workers was found to be three million per year. The longer it takes for a nation to recognize the efforts of health and care workers, the less likely citizens will see a proper health delivery system.
India’s tribute to healthcare professionals
Recently, Indian parliament has passed the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Bill, 2021. The Bill seeks to set up a National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions to regulate and standardize the education and practice of allied and healthcare professionals. In India, there is an immense demand for qualified healthcare professionals and this legislation will provide the necessary impetus in providing affordable healthcare to the people. The Bill aims to provide dignity to healthcare workers and has addressed the concerns regarding the lack of a regulatory body for various allied and healthcare professions in the country.
India’s rising concern towards its citizens' health has reflected its progression in the field of the healthcare delivery system. An integrated ecosystem in the country has enabled a better continuum of healthcare in India. Besides, India has also established a comprehensive, nationwide integrated digital health ecosystem that has marked a new beginning for the Indian healthcare, enabling more effective delivery of healthcare services and moving towards health to all.
